A recent find in a field in Warwickshire is to be sold and the hope is that the British Museum will be successful in their bid. Not only is this pendant a very rare find for the period, it also sheds light on Henry’s love of Katherine, often downplayed by school textbooks in favour of the story of Ann Boleyn.

You can see from the images above, which show both sides of the pendant how much in love Henry was with Katherine in the early years of their marriage. One side of the pendant is decorated with an image of a Tudor rose intertwined with a pomegranate tree, symbols relating to Henry and Katherine respectively; the other features the letters “H” and “K”, tied together with white thread. At the bottom of each face is the word tousiors, or “toujours” as we say in French today – ‘Always’.
