1. You will need to show OFSTED that you have a clearly thought through rationale for which topics you are teaching, in which order and why?

You should be able to answer these questions:

  • Why have they been chosen for YOUR SCHOOL’S curriculum-within and beyond the National Curriculum?
  • Why have you decided to teach them in that order and for that length of time?
  • How have you tried to make links and connections between periods so that pupils develop a coherent view of the past not a fragmentary one

OFSTED are much more interested in hearing your rationale for choice rather than expecting a particular arrangement of topics. After all, it could be possible just to quickly select and then sequence the topics in a matter of minutes-job done.
