Curriculum Design and history

Every school needs to be thinking about key curriculum decisions at the moment.  At Key Stages 1 and 2 the issues revolve around making the most of what each subject uniquely can bring to a creative cross-curricular approach.  At Key Stage 3 we have more scope than ever to innovate with themes, big pictures and overviews.  With the new GCSE courses starting 2009 you need to be considering carefully which specification will work best for your students.  When making important decisions such as these it is always helfpul to have expert advice to hand to raise the right questions and to offer the practical creative solutions that the best schools are developing.  What you will find in each section is detailed advice with some downloadable examples and case studies of best practice. The topics covered in this section are:

  • What is history?
  • Curriculum Design and rationale
  • Citizenship and history
  • History and literacy
  • Numeracy through history
  • ICT in history
  • Thinking through history
  • Creativity in history

At Key Stage 3 you are offered ground-breaking examples of planning for the new KS3 curriculum.
