Medium-term planning for history at Key Stage 1

This part of the site contains a dozen detailed fully-developed enquiry-led, key question-driven medium term plans for all the major KS1 history -led topics. They have all been judged to be outstanding by an experienced OFSTED history inspector. All the recent ones have the added benefit of containing all the associated outstanding lessons and  resources you need to make them work for you. But please note that in some cases the plan is supported by only some resourced lessons, not all. The reason why the plan is included is that you can create your own resources from the enquiry questions and suggested activities provided.

Many schemes even contain common assessment tasks, with mark schemes and examples of pupils’ work.

There are no more important documents for the history subject leader to have at their fingertips than a full set of the school’s own medium-term planning. These are pivotal documents which set out the key questions that need tackling and also indicate what does NOT need to be taught.
