80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War Two

On 3 September 1939, Britain and France declared war on Germany after Adolf Hitler’s invasion of Poland. It was the start of the largest and bloodiest war in history – a conflict fought around the world on air, sea and land. Its outcome continues to shape our lives today.
