Really useful short video on Peterloo , ‘Manchester’s Tiananmen square’. Presented as a graphic novel, the visuals are really clear and compelling . The commentary is non-condescending for a KS3 audience. The relaxed presenter is actually writing a graphic novel and using just contemporary eye-witness testimonies, no other voices, hence ‘witnesses to a massacre’ of the title. In the age of fake news here is another good example of where pupils should be asked to consider the presenter’s political stance and motivation rather than take his interpretation as gospel.
