Gove curriculum or National Curriculum?

Today’s article in the Guardian reveals that the draft programmes of study journalists have seen show the remarkable influence of people who have commercial interests in promoting a particular learning programme e.g. synthetic phonics. In history too, as we well know, decisions about content coverage, let alone teaching and learning styles, are in danger of being skewed towards ministers’ personal preferences and hobby-horses. Instead of a national curriculum, England will get a “Conservative Gove curriculum” that is politicised and undemocratic.
