Neil Thompson - Consultancy

Neil acts as an educational consultant for history for schools throughout the country. His thinking on history in the curriculum is both extensive and up-to-date. Not only is he developing his comprehensive website, he also writes new curriculum materials for leading publishers, and runs in-service training courses nationally.

In the last six months he has :

  • supported a number of secondary school history departments, in Hampshire and Berkshire
  • written some of the Teacher's guides for the new Hodder Education GCSE history textbooks
  • planned and delivered in-service history training courses for secondary teachers for three major national INSET providers
  • run CDP events for history on behalf of advisory staff in London and Cornwall
  • run whole-staff INSET days for primary schools.

In previous years Neil has worked closely with QCA on KS3 assessment in history and wrote a whole section of the National Strategy Foundation Stage material on Engagement. In the primary sphere, he developed case studies of best practice for QCA and wrote teachers guides to two BBC primary history series.
